Lawrence Livermore Retiree Association

April 2024 Report

Submitted by Jeff Garberson, CUCRA Representative

Our main activity is monthly luncheon meetings with a speaker. Recent speaker topics include the history of LLNL defense programs by a physicist/author, an overview of fire department activities by the regional fire chief, and a talk on Laboratory management by LLNL Director Kim Budil.

We publish an electronic newsletter covering a wide range of topics: community events, retirement topics, CUCRA travel group plans, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory news and select matters of science and medicine. We also publish updates on UC benefits, policies and news and on the retiree healthcare lawsuit, which was settled several years ago but which still generates news once or twice a year.

Volunteer programs: None. Board members are the only volunteers within LLRA.

Member benefits (parking, discounts, etc.): Access to the luncheons and e-newsletter.

Status of the Retirement Center: We have no Retirement Center.
