Lawrence Livermore Retirees Association

April 2025 Report

Submitted by Jeff Garberson, CUCRA Representative

Our principal activity continues to be monthly luncheon meetings with a speaker. Speakers have ranged from the operations manager at Livermore Airport to CUCRA’s Sue Barnes talking about the many travel opportunities offered by UC Retirees Travel. Beyond the luncheon meetings, we publish an electronic newsletter once or twice a month on topics ranging from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory news to select topics in science, medicine, the economy and regional matters of interest. We keep the newsletter non-political while trying to keep up with the many orders and cost-cutting measures coming out of Washington. These may be of interest to the retirement community generally or to LLNL retirees in particular. We maintain a website, often with updates on relevant UC benefits, policies and news.

We are not charging dues now but may eventually do so if needed to cover web hosting and other operational expenses. Past experience shows that dues can bring a decline in membership.

Volunteer programs: None. Board members are the only volunteers within LLRA.

Member benefits (parking, discounts, etc.): Access to the luncheons and e-newsletter.

Status of Retirement Center: We have no Retirement Center.
