Lawrence Livermore Retiree Association

October 2023 Report

Submitted by Jeff Garberson, CUCRA Representative

Our main activity is monthly luncheon meetings with a speaker. One recent speaker topic was a description of historic research at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory using laser beams to generate fusion energy gain. Another was a local community college research project carried out using drones.

We publish an electronic newsletter covering a wide range of topics: community events, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory news, CUCRA travel group plans and select matters of science and medicine. We sometimes publish updates on UC benefits, policies and news and on the retiree healthcare lawsuit, which was settled several years ago but which still generates news once or twice a year.

Volunteer programs: None. Board members are the only volunteers within LLRA.

Member benefits (parking, discounts, etc.): Access to the luncheons and e-newsletter.

Status of the Retirement Center: We have no Retirement Center.
